Who we are & why S.L.A.C. matters
The Surface Land Advisory Committee (SLAC) represents and advances the interests of CALEP members engaged in surface land work, including land access, stakeholder relations, emerging land uses, regulatory processes, and the evolving demands of the energy sector.
As land management considerations grow increasingly complex—driven by competing land uses, new development pressures, and rising public expectations—professionals must remain informed, connected, and adaptable.
SLAC’s role is to:
- Ensure Surface Land perspectives are recognized, understood, and valued across the energy industry.
- Provide relevant guidance and explore emerging technologies shaping the land profession.
- Create meaningful opportunities for knowledge sharing.
- Support members as their roles and responsibilities expand beyond traditional energy developments; and
- Assist CALEP members in maintaining the required hours for Land Agent Licensing.
Our mission extends beyond information sharing—we are committed to delivering tangible, measurable value to your CALEP membership. We invite you to join our monthly meetings and encourage you to take part in exploring our continually evolving industry together.
