Who We Are

CALEP is a national association representing Land and Energy Professionals across Canada. Our members are dedicated to responsible resource development and effective land management, supporting balanced outcomes for industry, landowners, Indigenous communities, regulators, and the public.

Through deep industry expertise, strong relationships, and high ethical standards, CALEP plays a vital role in advancing responsible land use and supporting Canada’s energy and infrastructure sectors.

CALEP is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors of up to 14 elected members who represent the diversity of land and energy work across the country.

Our History

CALEP evolved from the Alberta Landmen’s Association, founded in 1948. While maintaining a close affiliation with the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), CALEP was incorporated as an independent association in 1961.

Today, CALEP represents approximately 1,000 members working across traditional and emerging energy sectors. Our membership includes experienced professionals, associate service providers, and students preparing for careers in land and energy development.
